Zhandi Kabunga (zon-dee ka-boog-ga) is a 23-year-old awkward, Black, lesbian filmmaker, working a 9-to-5 by day and obsessing over films by night. She created this space to talk about the films she loves, the ones she hates, and everything they make her feel in between. Here, she writes reviews, personal essays, and whatever else she feels like putting into words, often finding ways to connect the films she watches back to her own life. This is her little corner of cyberspace to share her writing, her opinions, her work, and her love for film with other nerds who just get it.

Think of it as your personal film plug, giving you the context, the vibes, and the reasons to finally watch.

I get a little too personal about the films that stick with me. These are the films that make me think about my own life, relationships, identity, growing up, or some random memory I forgot I had. Expect deeper analysis, personal stories, and probably a little oversharing because sometimes a film hits a nerve and I have to figure out why. It’s me trying to understand what I see on screen and what it says about me, too.

where I turn the camera toward other people. These are personal interviews and conversations with local filmmakers, artists, and creatives about their work, their process, and the ideas that make them create. I want to highlight people whose work catches my eye and give you a chance to get to know the person behind it. Think less formal Q&A and more getting to sit down with someone interesting and picking their brain.

for when I have thoughts about a movie but don’t need to write you a whole essay about it. These are short, under-250-word reviews for quick opinions, first impressions, and films that left me with something to say. Expect a little bit of analysis, a lot of personality, and no unnecessary rambling. Basically, if you want to know whether I liked it, hated it, or have complicated feelings about it without spending 20 minutes reading, this is the place.
